Ferragudo is a delightful fishing village. There is a square at the centre of the village which is the hub of local life. It boasts several excellent restaurants, a few shops, and some excellent beaches. The church , set right at the top of the town is worth a look too.
Visit Carvoeiro to explore the rock formations at Algar Secco.
Alvor is a small resort with a marina, popular with Portugese and visitors alike. There is a small resort town, excellent fish restaurants, and the lovely long sandy beach, excellent new boardwalks over the dunes and marina make it an ideal spot for a day out.
Lagos is the old capital of the Algarve. Visit the old town with its museums and churches, stroll around the shops, walk around the marina, or relax on the beaches, either the long Meia Praie, or one of the smaller rocky coves. We like Praie Donna Anna (pictured).
Silves is a lovely little town. Set inland alongside the river it is dominated by its castle. It also has a museum and a Moorish Villa. After a visit to the castle, lunch at the Cafe Anglais just below can be recommended.
